An Uneventful Sunday

Sighhhhh, it's always easier to consume than to produce, i can spend hours watching movies/series, browsing thru blogs/forums/facebook, but when it comes to organizing my thoughts to write a good blog post, minutes seems like hours. -_-

I feel sorry for my fellow squad because supposedly there is day leave for all of us from 0800h-1800h but then it got canceled the whole camp got locked down because one of my junior got caught being out of camp without permission and being in close proximity (khalwat) with his girlfriend by JAIS. It was stupid for that junior to commit such a mistake and make us all suffer the consequences and it was also stupid for the instructors to punish everyone for the mistakes of one.

Although i wasn't affected by the lockdown because us non-muslims has got this priviledge to go out every Sunday for prayers, my plans with my squad for movie and lunch had to be canceled because of it.  Angryyyyyyy!

TV Review: Private Practice (2007-present)

image

Source: Wikipedia

Synopsis: The first season deals with Addison's move from Seattle to Los Angeles and her attempts to adjust to a very different type of working environment at Oceanside Wellness Group, a co-op private practice. The first season also deals with her budding relationships with her new co-workers. Among them include her best friend Naomi Bennett, a fertility specialist, and her ex-husband Sam Bennett, who specializes in internal medicine. Also working within the practice is psychiatrist Violet Turner, pediatrician Cooper Freedman, alternative medicine specialist Pete Wilder, and receptionist Dell Parker. It is revealed early on that the Bennetts established the practice with the rest of the doctors owning a share of it as well. Charlotte King, who serves as chief of staff at St. Ambrose Hospital, works with Oceanside Wellness through her dealings with Sam and her sexual relationship with Cooper.

My BItes: Private practice is running in its third season now, and it just keeps getting better! I like this show more compared to the other medical drama Grey's Anatomy because the dramas featured in this show are shorter (usually lasts only one episode), less complicated, less dark and best of all it usually has got a happy ending after every episode. The character in this show also feels more real compared to the likes of grey's anatomy where i think is overly glossy, at the end of the day this show is about issues on  human to human relationships, whether it's parents-children. lover-lover, employer-employee etc.. Some issues i can relate to, some others are just pure entertainment fun. So catch this series if you need chicken soup for your soul and a dose of feel good. :)

Diwali Do

God bless Diwali, it was freaking hot the whole day today. nevertheless it did not stop me from braving the scorching heat to attend my friend mr. arvin's open house, my family tagged along too since we got movie plans after that.

That's my plateful of food, all of them spicy, the mutton was especially nice though, soft and tasty, just the way i like it! Now the highlight here is the glass of drink that my friend served me, it's the Johnnie Walker Green Label with ice and water lol. Prior to this i have never drank liquor mixed only with water before, them Indians really know how to make a stiff drinks man, i was poured half a glass of liquor and half mixer, it's really not for the faint-hearted.. I had 3 glasses of Green Label and a glass of chivas, got real tipsy in the middle of the afternoon, with my mom's nagging not far behind.

That's my friend and i, his parents and my mom. When you are tipsy, conversation flows real smoothly haha. His father is a real gracious host, always going around challenging people to bottoms up! Don't let his simple demeanour and down to earth personality fool you, he's actually Dr. Venugopal, the deputy dental director in the Health Ministry with the salary wage equivalent to a two-star general, so how can i decline his bottom ups challenges haha.

Today is actually my get out of jail pass, cos i applied for leave specifically to spend some time with my dad who came back from India for his quarterly week long holiday. And tomorrow morning i shall go back to camp and prepare for a week long military training in Mempaga, Pahang. How do i feel now? Slight hungover with a hint of sadness, first cos i can't spend more time with my family, second cos i'm getting the cold shoulder from one that i care lots about. May things get better soon!

Exercise PACAT LENGGENG

A fortnight ago I was away from civilisation and its luxury for a week, I took part in Ex Pacat Lenggeng, a Counter Insurgency Warfare (CIW) aka Jungle Warfare training exercise.

Ex. Pacat Lenggeng is actually a training exercise designed for the army cadets, with the objective to equip them with knowledge as a platoon commander to command their troops for combat in the jungle, which includes ambush, anti-ambush, insurgents' camp attack, defence position, reccee etc. For airforce cadets like me, since we don't really use these knowledge when we enter service as an airforce engineer, our role in this exercise was to become the enemy, aka insurgents, aka PENGKOM (Pengganas Komunis). Our second role in the exercise, though unwritten, is to become balachis, because we work tirelessly day and night to the whims and fancy of our instructors to make this exercise a successful one.

Our role as the enemy is quite an easy one, because basically our job is to harrass and make life out of the army cadets. And since we are not evaluated for this exercise unlike the army cadets, our life in this exercise is more relaxed and we are not under pressure to perform. Besides that, an extra priviledge as the enemy is that we are allowed to bring extra ration such as maggi, campbell's soup, instant porridge etc, besides the standard-issue combat rations. Uhm-mmm, sipping a cup of instant Nescafe Gold in the morning in the jungle taste extra good!

Why the name Pacat Lenggeng? Because the exercise is held at the Lenggeng Forest Reserve, Negeri Sembilan and supposedly there are many leeches (pacat) there. However. we are lucky because the our camp site that we were designated has got no leeches as it is situated by a hillslope and near a water stream. The water stream is a real bonus because the water is cool and crystal clear, so using it for cooking, bathing and poo-poo is no problem at all.

At the campsite, each of us set up our own individual hammock, and a common area for cooking, eating and chit-chatting. All in all, this exercise was a great experience for us and the esprit de corp among the airforce cadets has improved greatly.

On Love and Trust

Love is a funny thing, when you fall for someone, you'd do everything in the world to get his/her attention, seek for his/her approval, leave no stones unturned in your quest to make him/her happy; to do all these with nothing but one wish in mind, that he/she will know your true feelings and feel the same way too.

The funny thing is, you don't always get your way in love, sometimes every little thing you do, every little gesture you make, you are met with a six-feet wall. So the question is, how do you find balance between holding on to your feelings while climbing past every wall and preservere or to avoid being a nuisance and move on?

On trust, some people say 'trust is earned not given'. I say, towards your friends/associates/partners/lover etc, benefit of the doubt should always be given first, because if you do not trust that person, why do you want to have anything to do with him/her in the first place?

I do not give up easily in the pursuit of my happiness, after all climbing six-feet walls is my specialty cos i'm military trained, but if i'm doing it wrong, do give me a nudge towards the right direction.

A Good Sin

Sorry i was away for awhile, spent the whole of last week training for jungle warfare at the Lenggeng Forest Reserve, Negeri Sembilan. And i came back to realise a nudge by liwun to write up on the night that i sinned haha. So here it is, at the night of the mooncake festival me and a bunch of friends went to the Decanter Too bar at hartamas and chug down jugs after jugs of cold tiger, accompanied by chat, games and lots of laughter.

This post comes right after the post that we should take care of our health at all times, ironic i know. i'm a hypocrite haha.. XD So right after that night i woke up the next morning with a slight hangover and i had to rush and pack cos i had to leave for jungle training that very afternoon.. Was it tiring? yeah. Worth it? Totally! Do it again? Ohh yeahhhh! XD And it's been a long time since i met up with hwee jian, it's good to catch up again..
