The Gift of Health

Today i was able to exercise strenously and sweat it all out, today i got to enjoy my first cup of coffee(Aik Cheong Instant White Coffee) in a week, today i'm my usual cheerful self again! ;-) Now all these may seem tiny and easily accomplished, but not to me since i fell sick with fever, flu and a topsy turvy stomach since last Friday. Before getting my clean bill of health today, i had to tunnel thru nights of interrupted sleep, aching and lifeless body, lost of appetite, hot and cold and hot and cold, and many times there seem no end to this horrible tunnel. But thanks to my mother's healing touch and my military trained reinforced mental strength, my road to recovery got speeded up quite abit.

Why did i fell sick? Most likely i think it'd be the fatigue from driving cross-country to perhentian island and back, plus all the alcohol i had there(many many lots!) and the lack of sleep and partying with Black Eyed Peas the very next day! I've really learnt my lesson man, i'm so gonna have more rest from now on, and consume alcohol in a really really moderate amount, that means no more challenging people to drinking games from now onwards! :P

Friends, i've managed to recover fully to tell this tale that the gift of health is the most important gift of all, because without it, no amount of money and power will allow you to enjoy anything that this little planet we live on has to offer. So take good care of our health at all times!

Happy now.. ;D

Synopsis: Management chronicles the chance meeting of Mike Cranshaw (Zahn) and Sue Claussen (Aniston) when she checks into the roadside motel owned by Mike's parents in Arizona. A bottle of wine 'compliments of management' jump-starts the cross-country journey and unique courtship between two different kinds of people who are both ultimately looking for the same thing - a sense of happiness. Mike sees something special in button-downed Sue that inspires him to take a chance and hit the road to go after her. But once he reaches Maryland, he finds that Sue has no place for an aimless dreamer in her carefully ordered life. Obsessed with making a difference in the world, Sue falls back in with her punk-turned-Yoghurt mogul ex-boyfriend Jango (Harrelson), who promises her a chance to head his charity operations. But having finally found something worth fighting for, Mike puts his hopes against her practicality, and the two embark on a twisted, bumpy, ultimately freeing journey to discover that their place in the world just might be together.

My Bites: One of the better dvdrip quality movie that I've downloaded lately, the movie gives me a Juno-type feel of somewhat heartwarming and inspiring, about what a wacky average joe would do to pursue the girl of his dreams. including parachuting right into the pool of her house. And it was also about how a girl would sometimes forego the ideals of love in return for financial security and stability. Jennifer Aniston is in it, starring as the main love interest, i used to love her from Friends sitcom, her acting here is quite good too, though she’s showing signs of aging, quite gracefully albeit. Steve Zahn’s acting is worth a mention too, very convincing as the wacky average joe. Good story and good acting makes this movie worth your time. ;-)

Nice!

Description:

Butterfly Emerges from Stellar Demise in Planetary Nebula NGC 6302

This celestial object looks like a delicate butterfly. But it is far from serene.

What resemble dainty butterfly wings are actually roiling cauldrons of gas heated to more than 36,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The gas is tearing across space at more than 600,000 miles an hour -- fast enough to travel from Earth to the moon in 24 minutes!

A dying star that was once about five times the mass of the Sun is at the center of this fury. It has ejected its envelope of gases and is now unleashing a stream of ultraviolet radiation that is making the cast-off material glow. This object is an example of a planetary nebula, so-named because many of them have a round appearance resembling that of a planet when viewed through a small telescope.

The Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3), a new camera aboard NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, snapped this image of the planetary nebula, catalogued as NGC 6302, but more popularly called the Bug Nebula or the Butterfly Nebula. WFC3 was installed by NASA astronauts in May 2009, during the servicing mission to upgrade and repair the 19-year-old Hubble telescope.

NGC 6302 lies within our Milky Way galaxy, roughly 3,800 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius. The glowing gas is the star’s outer layers, expelled over about 2,200 years. The "butterfly" stretches for more than two light-years, which is about half the distance from the Sun to the nearest star, Alpha Centauri.

The central star itself cannot be seen, because it is hidden within a doughnut-shaped ring of dust, which appears as a dark band pinching the nebula in the center. The thick dust belt constricts the star’s outflow, creating the classic "bipolar" or hourglass shape displayed by some planetary nebulae.

The star’s surface temperature is estimated to be about 400,000 degrees Fahrenheit, making it one of the hottest known stars in our galaxy. Spectroscopic observations made with ground-based telescopes show that the gas is roughly 36,000 degrees Fahrenheit, which is unusually hot compared to a typical planetary nebulae.

The WFC3 image reveals a complex history of ejections from the star. The star first evolved into a huge red-giant star, with a diameter of about 1,000 times that of our Sun. It then lost its extended outer layers. Some of this gas was cast off from its equator at a relatively slow speed, perhaps as low as 20,000 miles an hour, creating the doughnut-shaped ring. Other gas was ejected perpendicular to the ring at higher speeds, producing the elongated "wings" of the butterfly-shaped structure. Later, as the central star heated up, a much faster stellar wind, a stream of charged particles travelling at more than 2 million miles an hour, plowed through the existing wing-shaped structure, further modifying its shape.

The image also shows numerous finger-like projections pointing back to the star, which may mark denser blobs in the outflow that have resisted the pressure from the stellar wind.

The nebula's outer edges are largely due to light emitted by nitrogen, which marks the coolest gas visible in the picture. WFC3 is equipped with a wide variety of filters that isolate light emitted by various chemical elements, allowing astronomers to infer properties of the nebular gas, such as its temperature, density, and composition.

The white-colored regions are areas where light is emitted by sulfur. These are regions where fast-moving gas overtakes and collides with slow-moving gas that left the star at an earlier time, producing shock waves in the gas (the bright white edges on the sides facing the central star). The white blob with the crisp edge at upper right is an example of one of those shock waves.

NGC 6302 was imaged on July 27, 2009 with Hubble’s Wide Field Camera 3 in ultraviolet and visible light. Filters that isolate emissions from oxygen, helium, hydrogen, nitrogen, and sulfur from the planetary nebula were used.

SAY WHAT? A Guinness Event but No Guinness?!!!

A while back my friends and i were contemplating to join the Guinness sponsored mc arthur’s day event featuring a concert by Black Eyed Peas at Sunway Lagoon, thinking it’d be fun partying to the tune of BEP while having a stout in hand.. :P

And then controversies started to surface when youth members of a political party started rallying against the event because they alleged that the event is opened to all including muslims and alcohol is served, thereby not conforming to society norms and a showcase of decaying of moral standards. The authorities intervened and ordered that the event shall be closed to all muslims, fair enough. However BEP apparently has a huge muslim fanbase in Malaysia and these fans protested against it, and now the authorities order that the event be open to all but alcohol sales be prohibited instead. Holy mutha *ucka!!!

Welcome to bolehland where the Government rules with oppressive policies and makes topsy turvy decisions. Is it so wrong to sell alcohol at a party? As long one does not need to buy them and drink up before being allowed entry, i see nothing wrong with it man seriously. A person religion’s do’s and don’ts is really his own business in conforming to them, an open event is an open where the organizer's responsibility is solely to make sure that everyone has fun and stay safe, nothing else!! If one feel offended by the sale of alcohol at the event, don’t attend it; simple right? We don’t see dinner functions stop serving beef because there are Hindus present, do we?

Felt real pissed about the whole situation and thinks that the rm95 ticket charge can be spent somewhere else to have even more fun. People facing the same dilemma can maybe try some clubbing fun dancing to BEP music spinned by the dj’s at Maison off Asian Heritage Row, as i went there a fortnight ago and they are having this Buy1Free1 promotion for liquor bottles at rm418 inclusive of admission for 8 guys, where as ladies enter free! Real good deal i think, definitely more fun than having to party with hypocrites and people who’s trying to impose their views on you and forcing horseshit down your throat.

Here are some pics from a fortnight ago….

Mumm-mumm

DSC05731Tired of the same old maggi hot cup? Here's something new to try! It looks like wanton mee, taste like wanton mee, even cost as much as wanton mee (rm4.50) but without wanton in it haha.. Taste gooddddd!

Black Gold for Cheap

DSC05730

Observe the mug, does it look familiar to you? Well if you guessed this frozen mug of Guiness Stout is from Chillis Grill & Bar, you're wrong but i don't blame you because the restaurant that serves this mug of black gold is called Spaghetti Grill, yet however both Spaghetti Grill and Chillis falls under the same management. Hence you get the same mug same great taste and almost same dining atmosphere, but different price indeed.

For those who have not already tasted the stout at Chilis, it tastes rich, creamy, smooth and yet it's at near frozen cold temperature, in short it's really really really good! Spaghetti Grill's one tastes the same too.

Spaghetti Grill is now having all day long happy hours promotion though, it costs only rm9.95+ for a 10oz glass of Guiness or Heineken or a pint of Tiger. Leprechaun luck was on my side today i guess haha,, i ended up paying only rm9.95+ for a pint of Guiness! :P

Here's the story: My friend and i shared 3 glasses of Guiness between us, sat down ordered two glasses first then one glass at the end. But when the bill came, i was charged rm11.95 for a glass each, asked the waitress why and she replied it was rm11.95 nett, however that couldn't be because when the bill is subtotaled i was charged an additional 10% service charge and 5% government tax!

Unhappy, i asked for the manager and he told me that my glass was in fact a pint glass and not 10oz. No wonder la right when the stout came i was thinking "hey man gosh this is really really worth it, rm9.95 for such a big mug muahaha!' However however, i rebutted the manager and told him that when i ordered i specifically asked for the happy hour promotion and never have i asked for a pint! The manager was really cool though, he accepted my arguments and refunded me rm2 for each pint. Still considered cheap though if you are charged rm11.95 for a pint of such awesome black gold, other restaurant would have charged at least rm20 for a pint.

Another promotion worth mentioning at the Spaghetti Grill is the set lunch, it cost only rm9.95+ for a main menu of pizza, pasta or salad and a choice of bottomless fountain drinks. The portion is slightly less than normal though but nevertheless filled my tummy up just nice with the 1 1/2 pint of guiness haha!

All in all it cost me only rm30 for lunch and 1 1/2 pint of stout, it's a steal i think! Spaghetti Grill is located at Mid Valley Ground Floor, just a few shoplots beside Chilis Grill.

Alcohol noob? Tired of drinking or drinking at the same old place, wanna find somewhere new?

Well head on over to Thirstyblogger and read his cocktails!

Got this blog link from friends last weekend, checked it out and now it’s on my bookmark! It has got everything about alcohol that you need to know to have a good time with: recommended chill out places, cocktail recipes, new liquor launches etc etc.

Just got to know from sis last nite that the blogger is actually a friend of hers, oh well more party fun when sis comes back next time!

As for the watering holes recommended there, i’ll post up my own reviews when i visit them all real soon! :)

When was the last time you played the swing?

Sometimes life simplest pleasure gives you the most satisfaction, a visit to the playground proves just that.

It happened on the night of merdeka eve, my friends and i rocked the playground after shopping for some booze from your friendly neighbourhood macha booze seller over at Jalan 222. A sample of the rm7.50 fun multiplier:

500ml can, 12% alcohol, don't pray-pray! :P

p/s: This is my first post for this new blog, still working on lots of kinks and misses, any feedbacks are most welcome! :)
